Tending Fury:

Somatics for Anger Release

Tending Fury is a trauma informed, virtual workshop offering accessible and approachable somatic practices for feeling and expressing your anger. Cultivating a consistent and choiceful practice of embodying your anger is paramount for a healthy functioning nervous system. Racialized, patriarchal capitalist culture teaches that anger should be “let go” and “managed” with a subtext of repression and shame. The truth is: anger is for Lovers! The Resisters, Change Makers, Grievers, Healers, Caretakers. If you weren’t given tools for feeling and responding safely to your anger this workshop will change that with a playful and practical approach. Once you find a few practices that work well, you can expect big shifts in your capacity to tend your nervous system, feel your emotions and connect with others in the difficult moments.

SUNDAY JUNE 16TH 12 pst / 3 est - 3 pst / 5 est | 2 Hours | $60.00 | On Zoom | Recorded

When you don’t have supportive ways to metabolize and express your anger it can come out unintentionally at the people you love or in situations you might regret later. This is how relationships and movements can fall apart. When the righteous well of fury inside of you goes untended it will surely overflow, flooding you and your systems of support.

I felt called to offer this workshop now, when so many are experiencing despair and burnout due to continued presence and witness of the Genocide in Palestine.  With little to no outlets for addressing rage, disbelief and frustration the nervous system can shut down and get caught in a functional freeze state. Whether you have been protesting, caretaking, witnessing or dialoguing; without easeful aggression release its easy to fall into despair. Embracing embodied anger lets your nervous system know you are on the same page supporting healthful metabolization of energy and vitality. Finding ways to affirm your anger will help you stay aligned with your most important relationships, movements and dreams of the future.

SUNDAY JUNE 16TH 12 pst / 3 est - 3 pst / 5 est | 2 Hours | $60.00 | On Zoom | Recorded

THIS WORKSHOP WILL HELP YOU:

  • Identify what anger feels like in your body.

  • Practice embodying your anger in a safe and choiceful way.

  • Learn playful and powerful practices for feeling, expressing and metabolizing anger.

  • Create a thoughtful plan for integrating consistent anger release in your daily life.

THIS WORKSHOP WILL NOT OFFER:

  • A didactic explanation of your nervous system or polyvagal theory. I will offer links on this that will be helpful, but we will focus on practice and experiential learning.

  • A support group of any kind; we will have some time for reflections specifically on your somatic experience of anger, but we will not recall or discuss traumatic experiences or events.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Private space where you can move, make noise, be comfortable and secure. Pillows, blankets and stuffed animals are helpful tools for muting your noise volume if you will be somewhere you can’t make much noise.

  • Come fed, watered, and rested, if possible. When your body is resourced, it learns and integrates better.

  • Pen and paper for reflection.

  • Internet connection and functioning camera. On camera attendance is not required, but offers a whole lot of aliveness to the space.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What about Zoom? Does it actually work for somatic practice and community building?

I am a firm believer that the best somatic work happens when we feel safe and supported. For many, practicing therapeutic somatics from the comfort of your own home creates the safety and support needed to dive deep and get vulnerable. Additionally, zoom creates the opportunity to work with folks who are not directly in your community that share your values and similar life experience.

  • Do I have to attend live? How Do I access the recording?

You do not have to attend live though the workshop is designed for live participation. When you sign up, you’ll have access to a member portal where the recording will be accessible 72 Hours after the live session, indefinitely.

  • Do I have to participate?

You do not have to do anything you don’t want to do. I will offer lots of modifications for every practice I offer and there is no expectation of participation if you are uncomfortable.

  • Is it ok to be off Camera?

It is absolutely ok to be off camera! Find your comfort wherever you can.

Scarlet’s facilitation has been nourishing for my body/mind/spirit during unprecedented times. Through Zoom, Scarlet has managed to create a safe container for meaningful connection, collective grief and joy, and an opportunity to explore pleasure during uncertain times. - Genevieve Saavedra

Scarlet is a righteous witch, an epic facilitator, and a deep listener who always helps me laugh in the darkest moments. I have worked with her in both 1-1 coaching and groups, and I HIGHLY recommend both. She is a true revolutionary who cares deeply and walks the practice of what she teaches. Our work together has expanded my sense of self, and deepened my ability to ground and create internal safety even amidst a wildly unsafe and collapsing world. She is worth every freakin penny and then some.
