Free Queer Somatix

Queer Somatix is a semi-regular free resource for the LGBTQIA2+ Community offering practices for discharging stress and building emotional resilience followed by brief community reflections. Practices vary and include intuitive and guided movement, visualization, gentle parts work, noise making, ritual and writing. My facilitation is always trauma informed however, these spaces will not be containers for trauma holding.

We meet over zoom which makes this comfortable, accessible and convenient no matter where you are.

This space is for you if:

+You are new to somatics and want to build a practice.

+You already have a somatic practice and long to practice in a group.

+You feel the nourishing impact of practicing with others.

+You long for additional facilitated practice time.

+You like to try new things with new people.
+Group spaces are edgy for you and you’d like to explore your edge.

Next Session: July 17th @ 4 pm pst / 7 pm est | One Hour.

“Scarlet is an excellent practitioner, an epic facilitator, and a deep listener who always helps me laugh in the darkest moments. I have worked with her in both 1-1 coaching and groups, and I HIGHLY recommend both. She is a true revolutionary who cares deeply and walks the practice of what she teaches. Our work together has expanded my sense of self, and deepened my ability to ground and create internal safety even amidst a wildly uncertain world.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

I will act as a safe community member by:

  • I will hold anything shared in the group as 100% confidential (Do not share the identities, stories or experiences of other people that you see at community Practice.

  • To the best of my ability, I will not judge others.

  • I will hold the other participants with the best positive regard.

  • I will keep the focus on myself and my own practice.

  • I will be as compassionate as possible with myself and others.

  • If something in the community practice happens that makes me feel unsafe or has a negative impact on me I will reach out to Scarlet immediately via the feedback form in the community portal.

  • I understand that this is an anti-oppressive space with a zero tolerance policy for acts or speech of supremacy and prejudice.

  • Because this space is for resilience building and not emotional processing:

    • I will not push myself beyond my safe edge. If something feels emotionally challenging I will dial the practice back, ask for a modification or take a break.

    • I will keep my reflections focused on the practice and its impact on my current embodied experience. I will not share personal histories or details from my past. If context feels necessary to your share keep it brief and general. Example of appropriate reflection: “I am currently struggling in my romantic relationship and I could feel some of my resentment that was stuck in my chest shift and dissolve during that practice. The shaking and jumping specifically was really helpful.” Example of inappropriate reflection: “Recently my partner cheated on me and I moved out of my home and I’ve been in a major depression because this has triggered by abandonment issues from my mother cheating on my father and leaving when I was a kid. I could feel this practice free up some of that heaviness…”

  • If, for whatever reason, you are not able to meet any of the following guidelines, please skip the session.

    • If I am more than 10 minutes late, I will skip the session. If I am less than 10 minutes late, I will jump in where I can and will wait for Scarlet to catch me up if needed. Whenever possible I will show up two - three minutes early.

    • I will attend sessions from a physical space that feels private and conducive somatic practice

    • I understand that having my camera on is not necessary, but that it can add a great deal of depth to the session.

  • I acknowledge that if I am not able to meet any of the group agreements Scarlet can remove me from the space at any time.
